Spring 2021: Coffeyville’s Brown Mansion Ahead of Its Time

The written description of the Brown Mansion just south of Coffeyville, Kansas, might conjure up images of the popular board game, Clue: Three stories and 16 rooms including a hall, a conservatory, a library and a billiard room.

But look at a photograph of the home and you’ll see a beautiful neoclassical architectural style with simple geometric lines and a portico that calls to mind the White House rather than the dark and foreboding setting of a murder mystery.
